Metamorphosis

I wander through desolation
Barren, broken countryside
Fire ravaged
Black and lifeless
Godforsaken
In this dark dream
I see my soul laid bare
A battered, bruised thing
Ravaged by the fires of life.
Then in my dream sweet rain falls
Transforming the scene I see.
Long dormant seeds burst open
Leaping into life
Changing the black and barren
To colour and life.
Can I dare to hope that
This sweet Goddess rain
Can fall on my soul bringing
Metamorphosis.
