An Alphabet of Pagans- N is for Narcissistic

Age Group: Adult
The Goddess and the God
Love them regardless
Because they are
The absolutely best
Pagans in the world.
There might be those who
Have been practicing longer
Much longer than they have
And there may be those
Who have read more
Much more than they have
But they do not matter
The Gods love them more.
Reconstructionist who
Read all the scholarly work
That they can get
Their hands and browsers on
Eclectics who experiment
And have systems unto themselves
That work for them and
That they created themselves.
But they do not matter
Because the Gods love them more.
Traditionalists with
All their initiations
With firm grounding
In which to practice their faith.
Solitaries who do all
Their workings alone
Showing dedication
To their chosen path.
But they do not matter
Because the Gods absolutely love them more.
Newcomers with all
Their fresh new insights
With questions and ideas
That may not have been asked.
Elders with books
Written on a variety of subjects
Well known and opinionated
Either loved or hated by others.
But they do not matter
Because the Gods must absolutely love them more.
From pacifists to warriors
From activists to apolitical
From casual to devout
They do not matter
For the narcissistic Pagan
Is loved so much more
Regardless of what they do
By the Goddess and the God.
Nobody else is
As much loved as they.
Yet if I was a Goddess
And a follower said
"It is me She loves best."
And showed others the door
The only thing they would get
For all of their boasting
Is the classic Karmic bitch slap
And the question to them
"Would you like some humble pie?"
Author's Notes: Pride comes before a fall they say. I certainly would want to slap anyone who said that their deity loved only them because they were so good and brilliant in the eyes of their deity. It's even worse when they start saying 'I'm right and you're wrong because (insert deity's name here) loves me best.'
