An Alphabet of Pagans- P is for Pessimistic

Age Group: Adult
It has all gone to pot!
Cries the pessimistic Pagan
Who shall see nothing wonderful
In the news or in the community.
They see all the disasters
And note the cruelty that
Rages through the world
And that rages through their Gods.
They look at human nature
And see the very worst in people
We are but a cruel race
To ourselves and to others.
They look at themselves
And see nothing beautiful
They do not see their strengths
But only weaknesses that
Are there to be addressed
Only for one conquered weakness
To be replaced by another.
They look at the community
And see posers, those on the bandwagon
Who have no interest in
The hidden depths of their religion
And they see those
Who simply just want to make money
Out of the religion that others love so.
They look at politics
And see idiots, liars, cheats and thieves.
(Not that most people
Do see this of course.)
They look at activism
And see all talk, no action
They look at science
And see narrow mindedness
There are faults to be found
In all parts of the world.
At times they are valued
For seeing the downside
Or warning against that
Which can go wrong.
Some are seen as realists.
They know life can be horrid at times
So perhaps many can
Be sympathisers in personal
Misery and suffering.
Author's Notes: We can all be pessimistic at times for we've all gone through some hardship or other. Some can take this a little too far and I'll admit I'm probably one who has.
