Beltane

First of May, 'tis Beltane
Summertime is here again
Warmer weather shall come soon
Gods together make Summer bloom
Time to join the phallus and womb
So new life beginneth soon
The flowers of life shall bloom and grow
Some grow quick and others slow
'Tis the time, fertility, love
The Gods below and the Gods above
Male and female joining now
Underneath the blossomed bough
Wood upon a sacred pyre
Burning now a Beltane fire
Take the risk and leap the flames
Banish fear and banish blame
Sacred fire a purifier
The sun is rising higher and higher
Burn away insecurity
Of Winter's doubt we now are free
Let us call the Summer in
Of the fertile Earth we sing
Around the Maypole we shall dance
And through the green wood we shall dance
The sun's bright rays they now shall kiss
And warm the Earth in gloried bliss
Life has spurng from fertile ground
With flowers, blossoms all around
Red and white in a tangled weave
Upon the rocks and on the trees
Raise your cup to this sacred day
That opens up the month of May
Hailing now the King and Queen
Bringing life for all to see
Deep within Her He has found
The sacred mystery that's bound
With open heart She takes Him in
And with the warmer weather sing
Take the chalice take the knife
To celebrate the union of life
That below now meets above
Joined together deep in love
Summer has returned again
Let us sing now for Beltane.
Author's Notes: Here's my offering for Beltane. I'll admit some of the rhymes may seem a little forced but I tried to make it as lyrical and rhythmic as possible.
