Age Group: Adult
The Sun has come on the longest day
Lighting the sky with all of his rays
The day is as warm as it shall be long
Here for an hour and then it is gone.
The Horned God stands on a great proud hill
Showing His strength as the Sun stands still
His antlers have grown to crown him a king
In the maturest nature He shall now sing
The Goddess, a Mother, fertile and well
Her breasts and Her womb with child does swell
Stands with the grains that grow in the field
That mature and ripen until time to yield.
And we shall dance with the fire and the flame
At the peak of the year when Summer shall reign
And we shall rejoice with the crown of the light
Dancing and singing to our Fathers great might.
We shall praise the green of the leaves
That rustle and dance the the warm Summer breeze
Grown from the branches and strength of the trees
Hiding the birds and the hum of the bees.
We shall rise at the early dawn hour
To witness the Sun at the height of his power.
Knowing the lightest shall come very soon
When bell shall toll to ring out the noon.
Many shall stand at a circle of stones
With cheer in their hearts and warmth in their bones
To the power of light and the heat they shall sing
To the glory and knowledge that the Sun shall bring
Yet after this day the Sun shall but wane
As the Wheel of the Year keeps turning again
Darkness will now at once start to grow
As to the waning year we shall go.
