Underneath the starry sky
Snow is lit up by the moon
Chilling winds shall pasas you by
Ice is forming on grounds too
On the path is sugar frost
Summer time it seems so lost
Robins cold and alone sing
In the cold that winter brings
Frigid air shall leave you numb
In the cold you need to cope
In the drifts a song is sung
A song of joy and of hope
Bring the wood and light the fire
Drink the wine and play the lyre
We shall wait for dawn to come
Herald the rebirth of the Sun
Take a sprig of mistletoe
Hold it up to call for peace
Holly, ivy around us grow
And the light shall soon increase
Hold a candle on this night
To symbolise the waxing light
Sing now as the King is born
In the sunrise of the morn
See the God over the hill
Rising up now in the east
Smiling, laughing all is still
Sing a song and set the feast
Dance upon the snowy fields
For the light and warmth he yields
In the sky He faintly burns
Our great God has now returned.
