Imbolc

Age Group: Adult
The ewes bleat in the meadow
Preparing their milk so white
An easterly wind shall blow
As nature again turns to light
The Goddess returns to us
As the Maiden strong and mild
Shattering the winter dust
Fresh and sweet like a child
The God a nimble youth
Leaps now at Her side
Light and strong with truth
With Her as future bride
Brigid, Lady of Fire
Holds forth the flame's spark
To raise and to inspire
To chase out all the dark
Purify out the old
With the promise of spring
Fading winter cold
The freshness Imbolc brings
Time to do something new
Time to plan ahead
Hear the bleating ewe
Blessings upon her head
Brigid, Lady of Smiths
Comes with craft and art
In Her forge realise your wish
So to a new start
Look now down the green
The Maiden dressed in white
By Her the Youth is seen
In Imbolc's dawny light
And the air is sweet
With snowdrops on the ground
The birds begin to tweet
In a waking, stirring sound
Come to plant the seed
See the trembling shoot
A timid and youthful green
Or else a hidden root
We gather in green and white
In this chilly clime
To celebrate waxing light
Come sing for Imbolc time
Author's Notes: Blessed Imbolc everyone. I'm quite looking forwards to this spring. Considering the winter we've just had however can you blame me.
