The darkness I see

The darkness I see
The darkness I see,
Held not by my will,
Is a cloud covered?
Will it ever be still?
Will the sun cry?
As my life is poured out,
My friends, will they sob?
Or will they just pout?
I cry into nothing,
The darkness alone,
It twists like fingers,
Trying to get hold.
I scream, there’s no sound,
The dark, it comes in,
Reaching around,
Pulling me in.
My hero comes quickly,
No messing around,
He pulls me up sharply,
Leaves the darkness down.
I look up to see,
Him smiling down,
He holds me close,
His arms wrapped around.
His eyes I see,
Are locked with mine,
He gave no words,
I gave no sign.
He pulled away,
I cried out in shock,
Don’t leave me here,
Hush, I will not.
He took me home,
Like an angel or bird,
And then he left,
To a voice no one heard.
I cried through the night,
He listened with pain,
He couldn’t cope,
To leave her in pain.
Her pain he felt,
Through his love for her,
He looked through her window,
In sleep she stirred.
Angel she mumbled,
He glanced round in shock,
There she sat up,
She looked awestruck.
You came back she said,
Her voice like bells’ reign,
He walked over helpless,
And took her again.
