blood

the blade stabs lightly, fear still trying to stay the hand
a bead of blood appears
the blade slices deeper, the fear almost gone
a a few drops begin to trickle down my arm
the blade carves deep, through flesh and blood
more begins to flow
large drops run to my fingers
the blade goes still deeper, grating bone
the trickle becomes a torrent
i tear the blade from my tortured flesh
blood is running off my fingers
it will not be long
