Winter : Its Bloody Christmas from November

Its Bloody Christmas from November – or – Winter.
Mornings are both dark and cold
Roads are slick with ice
A face on TV tells us
If you’re going out, think twice
So we stumble out of our front doors
Bodies barely working from the cold
We’d much rather be warm inside
Under a duvets warming fold
We slam car door with great relief
But we so rapidly loose heart
As growling starter motor heralds
Another day when it won’t start
And as battery dies its lonesome death
Our spirits sink so very low
And we shuffle quickly with misting breath
To join a bus-queues frozen flow
And so we finally get to place of work
Or college carpeted by snow
To find a soggy sign on well-locked door
To tell us we didn’t have to go!
The central heating is down again
The pipes are frozen to their core
So if you could all just go home again
Sorry to be such a crashing bore
And thoroughly dispirited we wander
Another wait for a wheezy old bus
We think to ourselves as we freeze in line
What’s the point of all this fuss?
Finally when we get back home
Something to really give us the blues
That place we spent two hours getting to
Is listed as closed on the morning news
Yes, friends, this is winter
With its short, cold and miserable days
The worst of all the seasons
With it’s rain, fog, snow, or mizzling haze
But yet one thing more it has in store
Hailed in by the re-runs on TV
Its bloody Christmas from November
The Great Escape & Simpsons Special III
But forgive me my Bah Humbug
And sleep from October 1st like me
Don’t wake me till winters dead and gone
Beltane, May 1st, shall we say half-three?

I love how its cold, miserable, wet and more depressing than watching the Eastenders christmas special.
