By the touching of our hands we came together
You were me and that was all there was
Those big eyes looked up and they asked me
The only explanation was ‘because’
You held my heart like it was fragile crystal
And the bitter pain & sadness gently passed
And I hope my love that you are ever with me
In the play of life in which we both are cast
Your smile is like the sunlight gently shining
For when my heart is dull and overcast
You hold me and you listen and you love me
Till the sadness of my day has distant passed.
And my darling I shall honour you and love you
And hold you close forever and a day
For love will hold us true forever lasting
As the world spirits us away
