Depression

Depression
Wandering round the house
No job to do
Nothing new to read
I don’t want to eat
Inside I feel so empty
Like a rubber ball
With no more bounce
So I spend my lonely time
Wandering round the house
I try and start the car
It goes after seven tries
I remember all those happy times
Before all those lies
My belly rumbling, empty
At my appetites closed eyes
I thought to be a shining star
But I am not, and never will be
So I try and restart the car
I am going nowhere fast
A future belly to the ground
Dreams shoved under lost cardigans
In my hearts lost & found
And from the gentle touch
To the smile in her eyes
Hints at happy times long past
As I’m going nowhere fast
And I’ll spend the mournful day
Hurt buried deep inside
That little core of pain
That has my life’s rope frayed
And come the sunny morning
While the little children play
My world is tinged with grey
As I spend another mournful day.
