Spirit in the dark

Every night she comes to me, all damp and covered in mist.
Unseal her, on my skin she breathes, her touch, eternal bliss.
When I feel her wrapped around me, my worries disappear.
Drowned and dissolved in ecstasy as she whispers in my ear.
In tears and sweat and fateful rage our love inscents the breeze.
'Till morning turns another page, we'll touch and struggle and tease.
A native dance, a song of love 'till morning comes again.
We'll wish on the winds of eternity that this night will never end.
Spirit in the dark, stay close to me.
I'm the passion, you're the spark.
Don't ever let me be.
Spirit in the dark, stay close to me.
Come and love me in the dark.
Don't ever let me be.
Sooth me with your loving touch, caress me with your lips.
Charm me, harm me, torture me from my toes to fingertips.
Nurse me of these sordid wounds, these scars that go so deep.
Love, honour, obey me.
My life is your to keep.
Author's Notes: This is a song inspired by one of my many vivid dreams.
It was played on Cool FM (a local radiostation) and Radio Limerick One FM for nine weeks in 1996, following an international song competition win with Irish Satellite Radio.
