Soul Gatherer

Off into the stormy night
Rode the Horseman on dark a deed
One more soul to gather
So he can collect his fee
A pound of flesh in judgement
The price we all must pay
The cost of being incarnate
And living our allotted day
What accounting will you render
Of the lifetime you did live
When your doorstep he does darken
And your payment you must give
Will you tell of love and laughter
Of a joy in race and creed
Or of a life misspent and squandered
Making other poor heart's bleed
For your soul is in the balance
And your deeds will cost you dear
So when he comes a calling
Make sure you've nought to fear.
