A Roar in the Wilderness

Harken, the roar in the wilderness am I
My home the hidden valleys and forests deep
all wild creatures have a voice in me
Our homes grow smaller and numbers fewer
No longer is the mountain high enough
Or the forest deep enough
Not even the depths of the sea are free
From that animal called humanity
I who was hunter now hunted in turn
My skin precious to more than just me
Flesh which can serve to feed or heal
Or for displaying as a sports trophy
Some of us fall, simply in the way
Or part of a game to those who play
This earth is our home
We all need our lair
Can humanity learn to let live and share
Will we beasts still be here
When they finally care
