Fallen

You sound like a songbird with a beautiful song
but you look like an angel, fallen for so long.
Your lips, like red wine, look sweet to the tongue
and your eyes shine, bright as the morning sun.
I've fallen so far, I know I'll never rise.
I've fallen so deep, I'll never see the light again.
I've fallen with sin, damned forever - amen.
I've fallen so dark - into oblivion.
You don't even seem to know - a kitten sleeping by a volcano.
You don't even seem to care, or you're too proud to share.
What of the ache within this chest - that hides my fragile heart?
This stomach full of butterflies - this loyalty, torn apart?
'Coz I've fallen so far, I can't remember who we are.
I've fallen so low, no-one will ever want to know.
I've fallen so deep, who cares if I may never sleep?
Like never before - 'till this heart beats no more.
