Dancing your way through the ages,
In silver and scarlet and blue
Could I but turn back the pages,
And we had all worshiped you
Oh Bona Dea you’re living again
having the time of your life
Goddess of beauty and ruin of men,
Mistress and mother and wife, mistress and mother and wife
Now as I wander the bright city streets, I sigh # # #
Amongst the midnight riff-raff
Seeing your face in the crowd
In every brazen hussy flaunting herself
Showing us all that she’s proud
Oh Bona Dea you’re living again
having the time of your life
Goddess of beauty and ruin of men,
Mistress and mother and wife, mistress and mother and wife
Never again can men put you down, never # # #
Your daughters are proud to declare,
Revelling in fashion anew
Proudly their bodies they bare,

Author's Notes: Sung to the music “Isadora” (Tom Jones 1964, Trevor Kelly sang it every night in the Abercorn as his “signature song” 1970s)
If we drive through Belfast's Bradbury Place on a Saturday night at midnight we see the people pouring out of the clubs, and it will be the closest thing we will see to the Maeneds/Bachants/Nymphs chasing the men across a barley field or vineyard in an orgiastic fertility rite. The girls are half naked, High as kites, drunk as skunks, and if they are not carrying pine cones as fertility symbols, they will be carrying that new fertility symbol, the blackberry!
Really want to find someone to sing it for me, even if they only belt it out at the piano, just so long as I can have it on my computer, and in my car.
