Frozen Hearts and Bleeding Souls (5)

The Soul Attains
I wish I could somehow be with you,
Once more hold your hand in mine.
Eternal night without your light
Is far too long to pine.
Poor lonely lover, broken hearted,
Weeping for your memories...
Spirit or demon, fiend or angel
What is it there calling?
Have you already forgotten?
Infernal wraith, do not torment me,
What do you want of me?
As you lie weeping in shadows,
I feel the sadness you've known.
Look to the Moon, She will show you,
You are not alone...
Light in my darkness, you came back to me,
Blessed me with your beauty.
Light in my darkness, do not leave me,
Stay forever with me!
Lonely I lay there in darkness,
Then I felt kind presence there,
Warmed me then told me of your love;
He had heard your prayer!
Though to the tomb they had sent me,
Your faith and love made me whole.
Know though our hearts may be frozen,
Vampires have a soul.
Although the world may change around us
We will stay the same;
Forever life, forever love,
Never to part again.
Author's Notes: 5 0f 5. i have to confess that reading over this again, the theology, morality and basic logic leave a bit to be desired, but it made a lot of sense to the snotty adolescent that wrote it.
This last piece was meant to be a duet for both the vampire and his lover. Unfortunately I don't know how to format this so can't italicise the lover's words. Incidentally, when this was written, I was listening to Andrew Lloyd Weber's score for 'The Phantom of the Opera'. If you try it out, the words to 'The Soul Attains' just about fit 'Angel of Music'.
