Enchantress

Witching hour, heart of night
From the trees a flick'ring light.
Harpier cries, the mandrake screams.
Come Greymalkin, haunt his dreams.
Chorus:
Hocus pocus, evil eye
Magical hex petrify
Flesh and muscle, skin and bone
Living creature turned to stone
By the Enchantress.
Nightshade berries, hemlock seeds
Veil the taste of darker deeds.
By the Graveyard Maiden's art
Set fire burning in his heart.
Chorus
Call a sending, summon pain.
Thunder, lightning, hail or rain.
Raise a storm, unleash the wind,
Lady Darkness, he has sinned.
Chorus
Burning feathers, voodoo bones,
Hallowed blood, unholy stones.
Kindly sisters, dree the weird,
Show him why a witch is feared.
Chorus

Remember by the moonlit sea
We kissed and then you promised me
You'd love me then, forever and a day.
You should have paid heed to the sage;
There is no fury, is no rage
Like a woman when her heart is thrown away.

Author's Notes: Written some time around 2004, heavily influenced by British pagan goth band Inkubus Sukkubus.
Fun to write (as we all know/have known the feeling expressed or a variation on it) as it was, I obviously would never advocate the kind of malediction expressed by the titular Enchantress.
