Great One of Healing

Where soul rides out the silent hours and children weep around the fevered form, ‘tis Thou O Sekhmet who bids the barge unoccupied depart for Amentet.
As mother’s cry alerts Thy priest when serpent’s bite has laid her son full low, ‘tis Thou Who guides the sacred hands to draw the venom forth that child may live.
When limb is smashed ‘neath granite block, ‘tis Thou Who givest solace whilst healers work Thy hekau as the weeks unfold.
When Thou, O Sekhmet, escorted per-a’a in the vanguard of the strife and spurrčd on his chariots to victory, Thou wert close at hand to wrench the straying arrow from the royal chest and stem the lifeblood’s egress that he in triumph might return.
So when is sought Thine aid, we know in certitude that whether young or old crave succour, Thou art there.
Whether low or kingly person’s hurt requires alleviation, Thou art there.
In sickness modest or in malady extreme, lo Thou art there directing healers’ skill and wisdom – Sekhmet, Great One of Healing!
