Wanderer in the Wastes

Where Khamsin Wind blows fiercely from the South,
there we seek Thy presence ‘mid arid desert wastes.
There see we Thy kin at sand-bound water hole where lioness and lion assuage their thirst at noonday.
Shimmering and golden is the water-mirror for the Blessed countenance of Ras - the pool, a tessellation for the sacred Asheru in Thy temple.
The limestone crags hide caves where horned viper and cobra make their nest and Lappet-faced Vulture’s wings protect its brood.
There too the bones of many a griffon’s feast lie hid in stagnant shadows which alone are known to Thee, the Mistress And Lady Of The Tomb.
Therefore, Thee we hail as Nesert, The Royal Serpent, protectress of per-a’a.
Examine close the wadi’s dried stream course and perceive the faintest footprint which is neither leonine nor yet of human imitation.
This we deem to be th’etherial relic of the passing of Sekhmet, Roamer of Deserts and Wanderer in the Wastes.
Great Lady of The House of Life, even Sekhmet Who rouseth Thy people, Thee we hail as Thou wanderest through our lives and ask that enlightenment bring further awakening to the Realm of Thy Mysteries.
