The Longing for Oneness

Now the setting sun becomes my dream
Behind the mountains afar so serene -
And finally I will find in the end Peace
At the moment that daylight shall cease.
Never again shall my tale be heard,
So I write this down, my final Word.
Hear me in the babbling of the stream,
And the eagle high that reigns supreme.
See me in the canyon, forest and vale;
The onrushing wind and fearsome gale!
When I am gone, I will be these and more,
Speaking through the words of this, my lore.
Take me Mother Earth! Take me within you!
Let your body be mine, for the soil to re-new.
I cannot stand this anymore, the pain within,
It destroys me so much – let the end begin!
I leave you now dear love, yet shall forever stay,
Look at the sun! Soon, I shall be this display!
I find now, that this line tells no lie,
For indeed, “Today, is a good day to die!”
Author's Notes: Originally, this was going to be a poem about a person about to cause suicide, because of some terminal illness. It didn't work.
So, as like someother stuff I've done, these are the final words of a dying person on their death-bed, upon their last breath. It's a little deeper then that though!
