The mirror
by Sparkling Willow
Age Group: Adult
A figure sits in a darkened room
Light filled eyes clouded by tears
A heavenly laugh replaced by a heartbroken cry
Why is this figure weeping so?
They move across the room with grace
Chased by whatever haunts their mind
A sigh to keep the sorrow in
But what is it that’s made them so depressed?
A picture sits on the bedside drawers
Of a handsome soldier gone to war
Who has left behind a love pure and true
The tears she cries from missing you
Like the air has gone for her to breath
Like her heart has no energy to beat
Like her face can’t lift its cheeks to smile
Like life without him just isn’t worth while
And every happy memory is like a sting from a bee
Pushing in her face joy left with him
And she turns to look at me she says
“I know how sad it is you feel.”
