Masquerade

Hey little girl
For a small being you’re divided into so many pieces
You’re part of so many different worlds
Tell me in which one is it you belong?
Which face are you showing today?
What character is your heart playing?
What does your soul crave for on this dawn?
And who will you be when the moon is shone?
Playing games and creating monsters
Then make a new world away to escape from them
Or is it heartache that you run from?
So you miss out on the pleasures of life
Guilt and regret haunts you every step
You can’t seem to cry the bad memories away
And wherever you run you can’t hide from those
And how many times do they have to take things away
to make you see you should be on your own?
Hide the beauty that attracts the people you hurt,
The people you love the most
How many more challenges do you have to face?
And how many more before you give up and break?
Stretch yourself out for other people
Watch them make it to the other side and you’re left behind
One trial after another, one goodbye follows the next
And all you’re left with is the tears the leak from your eyes
