Lost summer

I want to go back to the summer where it was me, you and all of our dreams.
This separation fires a bullet every time I see my life without you.
As I lie drowning in my blood I’ll remember this was for your freedom.
You haven’t asked for this hurt and pain but I can’t face the accusations again
All of those minds believing I do this to hurt you, highlighting how selfish I am
How could I hurt you without breaking my heart?
Fly to a life where you’re not trapped by what could have been,
Go to a world where there was no you and me
But know that wherever you fly I’ll love you still.
No second passes where I would turn away from being in your arms,
A spider caught in a web not of her making
Let’s go back to the summer where it was just you and me.
Numbness and frost devour me as my soul fades into non existence
For their eyes I will become a martyr for this love so that they can see the light that shone
And the canvas that I find myself in will be drab and grey until that summer comes to me again.
