english child on welsh soil

Oh wales home of my heart, a country never my own,
and yet your valleys I love and your mountain faces I roam.
For love of the pembrokshire coast or the snowdonia national park,
Swansea amature thatre, cardiff bay in the dark.
Llanfuhangletalyllun all 49 houses I adore
And this swyddfa Post in Aberllunfi I love you from ceiling to floor.
Oh place of my flesh, heart, blood and bone,
and of my spirit furthermore,
Take me into your great green bosom and keep me there evermore.
Sweet country of green hills, valleys and sheep,
seas, lakes, rivers and plugepools deep.
I have grown to love your culture, and your idenity, your castles, manors and fortresses in all their majesty.
And on St Davids day I dress,
in a red rugby shirt like all the rest.
Welsh cakes, bara brith and cawl,
big pit, castell coch, llanchiach fawr.
The big cheese, sheep music, eistedfoddau
All I love but will never be mine.
Oh, dear, sweet wales, a country never my own, but where I work my living days and build my teasured home.
