A Midsummer's Night

It was their destiny to be together that night, the night of midsummer. The roles they were playing had been played in the same motions for eons. The need of creation drew them to a secluded spot in the oak woods, the faint breeze blew through the trees. The scent of magick was in the air. Beloved drew close to her long lost love, in this life wearing a new mask. She would know her love's touch anywhere, anytime. The power built around them and through them, singing in the forest and the universe beyond. Energy shattered throughout creation as the Moon broke free from the clouds. They lay back against the ancient oak for support and grounding, letting their shared power flow back from whence it came. Embracing briefly, for one last moment, then she bid her love a sweet goodbye. He disappeared with the next gust of wind. She looked sadly at where her love had been and then smiled as she remembered that they would be together again. Destinied to be together again, as soon as the sun came over the horizon on it's first new day.
Author's Notes: I wrote this years ago on Litha. I tried to show the myth of the Goddess and the God on that day. I wanted to show both the sorrow at his dying and the hope of his ever-renewing beginning.
