Drunk on the Moon

I am sitting here
laughing my butt off
at the antics
of the wind
as it plays in the trees
The stars
shining in the skies
are willing captives
of the branches
My smile broadens
as the wind
playfully slings
snow in my face
The moon dances
swaying across the sky
her light making
tatters of the skimpy clouds
My eyes are full of her
I want her to come
down to see me
sitting in the snow
She could come dance
with me
making funny patterns
in the frost
Luna lively steps
across the mountain's edge
balancing on tiptoe
before falling behind
So I sit,
butt cold and numb
laughing, clapping to her
for enriching me
with such a great show
Author's Notes: Alaskan winters are great times to get a lot of skywatching in. You just have to bear with the cold.
