The Calling

I heard the whisper in the wind
gentle breath among the trees
light beckoning far off in the distance
teasing me to follow
No one else seemed to hear you
society only had rumors
very few seemed to know
that magick was sparkling
at the edge of their vision
I walked along an overgrown path
meandering deep into the depths
nostrils flaring at the slightest scent
vaporous trail guiding me on
I broke out into sunlight
I broke out into darkness
I heard your call
So loud
so quiet
Why didn't I hear it sooner
Life would have been so much easier
I am thankful that my ears caught it
it is so much sweeter for the searching
Shadow of antlers in the forest
Diadem of a moon in your hair
Refrains of your songs among the stars
the prints of your dance in the soil
Wonder compelled me to follow
Faith guided me on
Surrender dropped me to my knees
Joy raised me to my feet
My feel stamp out your rhythms
my voice sings your harmonies
my breath is one with yours
all of my life is an offering to you
Lord, Lady
in infinite guises
having countless faces
Thank you for calling me
