Flames

Age Group: Adult
I am burning up
fierce heat is consuming me
red and orange float in my vision
yet I burn icy within my soul
I have a task to perform
I have a deed to do
I have a path to walk
All by myself
No one else can join me
I would like to have them
I would like some company
But I need to work this out on my own
Everything is falling to dust in front of me
everything not needed is dropping away
Everything is bursting into flame
Ashes, Ashes, Ashes
All is ashes
Like the Buddha said:
"Live your life like you are in a house on fire"
Take only the most precious with you
take the secrets
take the dreams
take yourself
Learn new paths to take
see new sights to see
just over the horizon
every day is a new day
Start fresh
Take the first step
Love the Gods
Love them within yourself
Breathe the brisk wind
See the bright flames
Taste the sweet water
Feel the soft earth
the only constant is change
remove the deadwood to grow
all you need is to take that first step
before you burn yourself up
Author's Notes: Sometimes its really hard to take that first step.
