Searching for the Spark

Age Group: Adult
I am currently on a search
on the search for the spark
floundering in the dark
I try to gather my wits
I take a deep breath
call upon the Lord and the Lady
to help give me the strength
to blow on the embers
People can be fickle
they can say some very nasty things
make comparisons
where there should not be any
Sometimes I have no faith in them
Friends come and go
Family can strangle and thorn
I sometimes feel all alone
treading water all by myself
I will not give up
I will not allow myself to drown
Yet sometimes it is hard to tell
if a bridge is burnt or not
Should I go back?
Should I try to kindle a flame
that may be nothing but cold ashes?
I can only help myself
I can't take care of anyone else
I feel the gaze of the Gods and Spirits
watching my antics
non-judgementally
One thing I can do
is ask for a helping hand
A soft light
glows in the darkness
offering a way
to find the lost
in the dark recesses
of the corners of the world
of my mind
I take a deep breath
I ground myself in the present
my eyes shift back and forth
and I continue my search
it may take the rest of this life
but I will carry on
maybe with some help
To search for that elusive Spark
