Poem for Ma Kali

Sacred and Great Mother,
thou art my desire.
Mahakali,
thou art my fire.
I dance within yours.
My rhythm is yours.
My passion is yours.
Reverence to you,
reverence to you.
Your feet burn my soul
as you dance upon me.
My pain is your ecstacy.
My passion my hell,
and also my heaven.
All of it is your love
and I would not trade it
for all the other places in creation.
Reverence to you,
reverence to you,
I stay with your pain
and your pleasure that you
bless me with.
I ask for nothing other than
a sight of your lotus feet.
I ask for nothing less than to
experience all of life.
Reverence to you,
reverence to you.
May your flaming love
consume me and claim me
at the end of this lifetime.
I will extoll my love for you,
with every breath for this life
and the future ones.
Reverence to you,
reverence to you.
My love for you is everlasting
because you are everything.

Author's Notes: I composed this soon after I had a dark night of the soul moment, I had been depressed for months because of low self-esteem. While gazing into a candle flame to see if I could get any answers deep within myself, Kali Ma appeared in the candle flame. Standing within the flame, she raised her sword and began to dance, her rhythm pounding out dynamically. I realized that my problems were small compared to her, but she cared about everyone's, no one is separate from the Mother, in any form.
This gave me the strengh to go on another day, and I have been faithful since.
