Beautiful Girl

My beautiful girl
yes, you can join me in the circle
Yes, your questioning meows and chirps
I will try to answer
My beautiful girl
I understand that the incense is too strong
for your dainty nose
Yes, I am doing interesting things
with shiny objects
before your blue eyes
and long questing whiskers
My beautiful girl
you wonder why
I do this every full and dark moon
I will try to tell you
Yes, the candles are very pretty
with their dancing flames
that flicker and shine
But please,
My beautiful girl
Please, I beg you,
don't burn your gentle paws
and swirly fur
in trying to play with them
Yes, now that I have righted them
now, it's okay to safely curl up in my lap
during this rite
My beautiful girl
I love you dearly
my beautiful cat
your curiosity scares me sometimes
Sometimes it makes me laugh
Author's Notes: I composed this after an altar accident that almost happened. My cat Keyai tried to really get into the magick making one night and almost knocked the candles off. No one got hurt, and I found it so funny afterwards that I had to write a poem about it. Keyai is still a welcome helper in my devotions.
