Whispers in the Dark

Constantly they ask him when did his heart wilt away
As if they do not know their treachery bled it to gray
Where is the boy before the man who was so filled with song
Feigning innocence that he was slain through all their wrong
A gasp a tear a mummer's cry that he lost his spark
While offering the blooded hand which filled his sight with dark
Empty words and kindness feigned the heartless gifts they bring
Maggot riddled carrion unto his face to fling
Trying for reaction all for naught because they find
His heart is closed and they are merely whispers in his mind
