Epiphany's Gun

Easier to run,
But where's the fun?
Listen to me, my son
The bright light that shines in the night,
Just might overcome the loneliness of some
But not this one.
I'm numb, shot by the gun.
The gun of truth.
I got in a fight, I chipped my tooth.
Hearken.
Awake.
It's time.
Forsooth.
Author's Notes: A passage denoting my loss of belief in the christian faith, and foreshadowing a much later discovery in the wonder of paganism shown in the line of the "bright light that shines in the night, " meaning the moon of course. I wasn't pagan at the time, but after I lost my faith during episodes of mania and depression I would have conversations, and make prayers to the moon, thinking I was crazy all the while. The gun of truth was the epiphany that many of the things I'd been taught by my former religion was simply an outright lie. It's a short poem, but a very important one for me.
