Southern Practicality

Those in the know,
And you know who are are,
Know how the story goes,
When it goes like this:
Spit in one hand
And wish in the other
Dream as much as you wish
But hard work gets you further.
Sittin` and wishin` and dreamin's all well and good
As long as your hands are doing what they should.
But wishing without work,
Is as faith with no substance.
Faith without works,
Leads to empty obnoxious utterance.
And works lacking faith
Feel meaningless indeed
So if this sounds like you
Perhaps you'll give heed
Spit in BOTH hands
And rub `em together!
Because faith paired with works
Shelter dreams that may prosper.
Author's Notes: Just a tiny bit different than my others. I was in a rare mood when I wrote this one, drawing on my southern roots and such. It doesn't have the gravity that most of mine do, but I included for the very fact of it's lightheartedness. Hope ya'll like it!
