An Epic Tale

1. The Fight
The wizard's fight, his enemies to smite
In this war with the massive horde
Righteousness is our sword
And as we stand against the ancient evil
Love will be our shield
The sickness with which the enemy smote
Sour and foul,
Naught but a note in history
Barely wrote
Carry not within you fear
Trust within your mighty leader,
A wizard and a seer,
He will show you all the way
Deep in Canaan you will stay
The promised and the holy land
No number can hardly stop
This hardy, heart-filled band
With love the arrows flight is true
To its mark in hardened heart
Your arrow swiftly flew
Holy conversion is the magick
That is key
Opening blinded eyes to see
2. The Lady
Thin and frail the Lady walks
Across to me
Within the hidden lodge
Won't you run across with me
Across the daisy`d vale
Her love is like the softest touch
Gentle and restrained, golden hair
Beautiful in braids
Softly speaking so very meekly
My heart begins to burst
My heart it hurts with pain,
Pain that is the very worst
Look not askance at this war, my dear
It is so very, very clear
Nothing can defeat our love
Or take away
What we have together here
The battle's won! Hurrah, hurray!
Nothing can take what you've felt today
You will carry in your hearts
The victory of this day
And though death may come for me
I will always love you, eternally
Amongst the heavenly stars I'll swing
At peace, content, warmed to life
By your memories
The power of love will carry me
Across the star`d sky
And I will love you more in death
Than ever I did in life
Do not fear for me to ascend
For those who fight, by the sword
Die by the sword, in the end.
Author's Notes: This is a poetic recount of a dream I had many years ago. It was very Lord of the Ringsish. Thus the traditional portrayel of "The Lady." And if you think my poem is epic, if it is indeed, then you should have seen the dream!
