To the Goddess of Love

by Llywelyn
 Age Group: Adult

To the Goddess of love I make my somber serenade Singing songs of warmth and comfort
Across her bosom I lay Strong and sound of mind Gracious are her virtues many Her soul is good and kind Up and far away To my Golden Goddess I pray Unto your glowing likeness
Her love is like the summer She is a breasted holy gift And a giving lover
Oh my! How I'd see you once again Your oval round face Your lover's embrace
Through your words that were spoken I feel that deep within me awoken A youth lost long to slumber His eyes are wide with passions anew Wide awake with long lost wonder And as he comes awake Into this world of pain He sees your soft-lit face Softly glowing and all knowing Compassionate to the very most A member of the holy host Silver are her gossamer wings Of long lost love she sweetly sings She is the living loving icon That I've come to nightly lean on She leads me on and fills me up I am sustained by such a bounteous cup
In her amber nut-brown eyes I lived whole lives, and I died To be revived, made whole again By the touch of cream-white skin Her voice it rings with bell-like laughter I could not begin to forget her after Hearing such a happy sound To her embracing bosom bound Naught but death can take me away This feeling in my soul she hath made
But even then I dare to say I'll fly across the sky above Dancing amongst the stars in love Sustained forever by her power Feeling fuller every hour Until eternity takes my soul She'll love and soothe my ever woe Until the end and yet beyond Not even death can break this bond
To the Golden Goddess of love Won't you return to me? We could do, so much us two Let love commence and then ensue all manner of things we could pursue For if your power as one be great Imagine what the strength of two would make
We'd soar as hawks and touch the sky We'd see the beauty of life And never again ask "Why?" For with love comes reason And knowledge you can use I could be your lover You could be my muse
We'd travel distant lands together Wide eyed with child-like wonder For it's who you're with in life, Not the weather, Not the daily beating drum Nor the reddest, richest rum, That makes the journey worth the while
And just remember As you go on without me The times we shared, The memories made The moment I first touched your face The warmth of our nightly embrace These are things you can't just erase
This is my ode to you All this is heartfelt and true And though this may feel like the end Know that I will always love you, My dearest friend.
Author's Notes: I was reading this one over and I realized that it might be a little confusing as to whether I was writing to the actual Goddess, or praising the goddess-like virtues of a woman. It is both actually. At the beginning to the middle it is an ode to the Goddess of Love herself, and from "In her amber nut-brown eyes..." to the end it is a past lover I am addressing. But I think it is pertinent to note here that perhaps there's less distinction between the two, as I believe that all are manifestations of the Great Spirit, so in praising the mortal woman, I feel I am worshiping the Goddess all the while. Either way I hope ya'll like it :)
