Alice Got Free

by Llywelyn
 Age Group: Adult

Listening to voices past Their message echo everlast Will my voice be heard? Will the people read my words? When I'm gone Turned to dust Where there's no more words to write When my final time has come When my struggles are final and done When this fight I've definitively won Will my message echo, last? Reverberating from the past? Will it touch some future soul I don't, I can't, will never know Touching on some common woe Though by time inextricably separate Connected by themes and feelings literate And everything I do by Gods iterate
What is this hunger That I sate? What is its nature From whence does it spring? What is its source? What is the nature of its being?
Why is the power of things once said, So much more when those that spoke them Now are dead? I sit and listen to his passionate Pain-filled voice His words of anguish, poignant bare Stripped of deceit that hides the pain Unholy confession to keep him sane And yet I find in the words I hear Encouragement to others to carry on A theme of power meant to save Them from destruction that we crave You and I and even he From his struggles he created Poetry sweet that alleviated My sea of sorrow overflowing Never met and never knowing How much his words meant to me How I was touched and was set free May your soul rest in peace And fly now on, away from pain Away from sorrow, guilt, and shame And in that ethereal world to wait
For I shall meet with you some day And finally share with you my story Of how your struggles were not in vain That made me feel it was ok To feel the way I feel today Because of you my erstwhile friend Though while in life apart, estranged You were a light in shadows dark And for this you'll be repaid If ever I can make it be arranged I will find your fleeting soul And tell you of these uncommon things Wait for me amongst the stars My erstwhile inspiration muse And one day we'll share such timeless truths
With this earnest line I say: Thank you Alice, be free from your chains.
