The Tree

Age Group: Adult
The tree stands ever so tall
Scaley bark of mahogoney and black
It's limbs reach out to the morning Sun
It's leaves and blooms close around dusk
The weather leaves it battered and worn
It can withstand the gusting, whirling winds
Yet the tree is home to the animal friends
And the tree remains ever so old and wise
Why can we see these eternal beauties
Before we cut them down
To build cookie-cutter houses?
