The Nine Virtues
by Espirit Invictus
Age Group: Adult
Faith is a source of great power,
For there is nothing it cannot have done.
Loyalty binds us together,
Letting the many of us be as one.
Compassion ties spirit to spirit,
And the Earth ties the hither to yon.
Honour maintains strength through discipline,
So the meek are made safe by the strong.
Justice holds fast light to darkness,
That no shadow may turn right to wrong.
Conviction drives each of us forward,
As the Sky above carries our song.
Wisdom brings truth out of fiction,
Distilling fact from the lies of the fool.
Purity keeps our flesh healthful,
Turning the soul to a clear, radiant pool.
Moderation is key to all efforts,
For the Sea ebbs and flows as a rule.
Author's Notes: These are the Nine Virtues to which I ascribe, put into verse for chanting purposes.
