A Dream

by Isis of Nefer-Per-Netjer
 Age Group: Adult

A Dream
Last night I slept and dreamed a dream Of mighty dragons and the faery king A wondrous story the king retold Of dragon magick in the time of old
As he told his story a kingdom did unfold A faery land forgot by man Where dragons freely roamed
Within their mighty wings, it’s said All real magick dwells From here comes the power That sends forth witch’s spells
Dragons of colors could be seen Red and blue and gold and green The king told of the power of each And of the magick they came to teach
Red dragons housed fire They dwelled in the south Roaring flames blazed from their mouths
Next was blue, from the west they came They came to hold back the wrath of flame
Green is next of which he tells The north’s deep caverns are where they dwell It is of the earth they are made It is the earth they'll rise to save
Gold was the last the king described Of purest air they are comprised In billowy clouds in sun dilled skies Is where the golden dragon flies
The king then told of the dragon’s plan To teach this magick to mortal man So they began with lessons simple They taught the mother is our temple
They taught which herbs could heal And which could kill And how a forked stick could be a guide To where the purest water lies
With joy the lesson were received When the plan was first conceived But the king’s tale turns to sorrow then When he tells of ungrateful men
Where man was once anxious to learn He now turns away with visible scorn “Magick is evil, from a devil it came” You hear their frightened voices proclaim
“Kill all the dragons before more magick they teach” Their leaders and holy men cry in the streets “For when the dragon is no more There will be an end to this Dragon Lore”
So they killed all the dragons Or so they believed But one tiny dragon had just been concealed She’s hidden deep in a faery glade And she’s guarded by those whose faith didn’t fade
She’s a tiny babe of all colors comprised She has all the powers of each To save the Mother she will rise And terrible lessons she’ll teach
Here is where the king’s story ends Or is it where the story begins For witches know the Dragon Lore And will keep her alive forevermore
