A Walk Through Ages

Age Group: Adult
Live out a time that wouldn't last
Adhere to a path scarcely walked
This way through the past
Has become choked with undergrowth,
Delicate wildflowers and creeping vines
An elegance long deserted,
Left to flourish in silence.
Your only companions are dead;
Ghosts and sylphs born of the mist.
The way is shadowed and dark
Wrapped in a shroud of mystery
Looming oaks blot out the sun,
The way ink smears a page otherwise clean.
Seconds pass in the guise of hours
The moon's sweet light will dew your path.
The night's gentle light brings notions
That the day's harsh sun cannot.
Who needs sleep when you're living a dream?
Spirits of the lost sing lilting paeans,
Hollow voices blossoming through silence,
Rendering what empty company they can.
Spiders dance across gnarled roots,
Spinning sinister imaginings,
Begging for manifestation.
This is all that is left of this time,
Thoughts of gossamer and memories of glass...
Who needs sleep when you're living a dream?
Author's Notes: Heh, this is my best poem yet, I wrote it while I was bored in my third period... I've had bad experience with posting poems on websites, so please don't copy! Heh... comments?
