In the dead of night,
In the absence of time,
Life draws on like a slow sliver in my mind.
Twisting and warping, bending me to its will.
I see my death,
My rebirth,
My fall,
My life stretched before me like a comic book.
The news print faded and worn.
I recall my life as it was, and the hopes of what could be.
A smile on my face and a song in my heart.
My love was boundless and new,
And freely given without reservation.
I see my life as I am now, and the rememberence of what was
And the thought out plans that would lead to my future
The stern will of one whose life is spent in defense of an ideal
The honor of a life spent adhering to "my word is my bond"
The duty of doing what needs to be done regardless of want.
I see my future, Tired and alone,
After years spent trying to set up this moment
The arrival is anticlimactic.
I was careful and thourough and I left myself with no play
Wife: 0 Kids: 0 Hopes: 0!
LIfe:1 Me: 0.
Looks like I lost the game.
The beautiful letdown of my life is upon me.
As i sit and stare I can see the end.
The end of the beginning, and the beginning of the end
To witness your own demise is remarkable,
You can see everything,
Not only as it should be,
But as it COULD be!
Through the eyes of the innocent the world is awe inspiring
But to the eyes of this tired old soul all I look to is....
