Would you lay
With me, naked
And whisper to me
Your poems of dark
Desire, and tell me you
Would love me
Forever, if
You could?
Drink with me now
To our common calling
Then: Take my hand
And descend into my
Caverns where the
Secret lies, untouched,
Waiting.
It is yours.
Take from me this
PassionFlower, and
When you go,
Let its aging fragrance
Remind you
Of a summer of words;
Of play, of Desert Heat
And treasures deep.
Of Wisdom learned only
When two poets, like
Meteorites collide;
And meld, but for a time,
As one.

Author's Notes: Was this a summer love? Ah, yes, but so much more. This was the meeting of spirits...this young poet, who I know was a lover of mine in another life...but in this life, his birth was too far behind mine for such a relationship. Nay, this is the love that awakened the sleeping poet in me; my playful self who had taken refuge in the mundane, fearful of opening up to the dangers of exposing my soul. He brought me back out into the world of writing poetry and doing readings, a world I had left behind. He is yet my friend...perhaps sometimes we meet upon the Dreamtime. Perhaps, it is just the wisp of a memory of a life gone by...
