I Dream of Crone

by Beatrice Dawn
 Age Group: Adult

Today, Crone came to me in a dream.
In my dream, my eyes were filled with tears because I was without a mentor. In all my life, in all the world, in all the paths I have taken, I have looked for one Aged and Wise, to talk to about my journey.
I was laying on my back upon a heavy wooden rafter, high within the roof-structure of a HUGE building -- about 3 stories above the bare floor of what resembled a warehouse, hangar or depot. Women of all walks, faiths and paths were coming and going from this building in all manner of transport. ...I was hiding on the rafter because I was ashamed... I had looked SO long (40+ years) and found no one; I felt abandoned, unwanted and useless.
...A flying/levitated bus came alongside my rafter. Women came and went from it. Some looked at me, some didn't. None spoke. They all had things to do, places to go. I had been feeling sad, but this is when my tears started - when the bus pulled away - I was Alone again.
As I lay there, wondering at my life and why no one had Included me, Crone came walking along on the floor below. She looked upward at me and giggled. Then with one acrobatic leap, she flew up and caught hold of the rafter with her hands and spun around it once as a gymnast does on a high-bar. She landed, sitting next to me, smiling at me. Her long silver hair hung about her shoulders, unhindered and flowing. She was skyclad - or very close to that.
By this time, I was sitting up, staring at her in complete surprise. Her wrinkled face looked at me with tender compassion mixed with humor, her eyes sparkled with levity. She reached out and took my hand in both of hers and looked into my face and spoke of things I still needed to try; people I needed to contact.
Then she taught me a Song. I don't know if this song exists in the mundane or if it is only from my dream. The words go like this:
"I don't care... about where you are... I will dodge every bullet... and fly to your heart."

Author's Notes: I live in the Sonoran desert. During the heat of summer, I work outdoors in the morning and the evening. Midday, I go indoors for a siesta/nap. I usually meditate as I'm drifting off to sleep... Today I visualized a pentacle silhouette with rays of light coming through it from behind.
