Walking the Line

by Hecapan

Age Group: Adult

A man approaches the line,
That separates “us” from “them.”
Cautiously he views its length,
So long and yet so small…
It baffles the mind.

That this line drawn betwixt the two,
Can hold so much power and so much hate...
It can drive nations to war,
Or break a man in two…
Omnipotence defined.

A man walks the line,
Between the light and dark…
Between the words of bigotry and hate
Between the words of solace and peace…
Words are never kind.

Fag! Satanist! Homo! Witch!
The weapons of the ignorant
Often hurt the worst
And take the longest to heal
Yet are the easiest to find.

For they wound the heart
Shadow the soul
Leave scars resplendent for all to see
Bound in bitter memory
The shackles of the confined.

A man trembles at the line,
Citizen of both
Denizen of neither
Damned by all
And left behind.

By a nation
By an idea
By those who are held equal
Under the eyes of a founding father…
Whose immortal words bind.

By a god
By a book
By the works of a man
Whom people bow and worship to…
The world has been misaligned.

For why can’t a man love another man?
Why can’t a woman crave another woman?
Without some government “law”
Or moral “code”
Break apart what love combined.

Why can’t a witch worship his Gods
Beneath the light of the Mother Moon
Without fearing the flame
Wielded by a cross…
Goddess protect all from those who are inclined!

A man stands blindfolded on a line
The solution as plain as night
For the line exists to those who see
Can only bind those who fear!
A new path is divined.

So wear the mantle of the Witch
Hold the hand of another man
Look into the Black Mirror of Truth
Accept love in all its forms
And let Fate…unwind.

So for Perfect Love,
For Perfect Trust
For Joy,
For Peace.
For all of mankind.

Wear a blindfold.
Flounder in the dark.
And accept the power
That Pure Love brings
For all of us are intertwined.

Blessed Be
