Looking out the Bars

by Christopher
 Age Group: Teen

Looking out the bars at burnt sky past a dead tree a light but not a ray of hope so asking myself how did I get here one of the voices spoke A man and a woman once conceived a child this child a boy was cut from the womb and put in a cage with no knowledge the child grew happy alone caged and smothered but knowing no better So the man and the woman raised there span watching closely from dusk to dawn And so he sat in ignorant bliss until the day he saw through his bars some young children playing ball And though he longed to play freedom was far away So the boy he sat curled in dismay Looking out the bars at burnt sky past the dead tree a light but not a ray of hope so asking him self how did I get here it was then he saw a bud growing down from the death of the tree so he reached and plucked it it was from the buds beauty its shinning delight the rose did grow he cut his chest open where then he tended the bloom and fed it his own heart but with all he did with all he tried it began to wither and die It angered him so he tried to break free in vane and pain grew in the void from which the flower devoured his hart so then and forever more he sat Looking out the bars at burnt sky past the dead tree a of light but not a ray of hope asking him self how did I get here how did I get hear chained up and crying how did I get hear screaming and scratching into his face how did I get hear how did I get hear how did I get hear how did I get hear
