Stroke of Midnight

Age Group: Adult
They are afraid of it.
The darkness.
From being a little child
Afraid of dark monsters lurking in the corners of our bedrooms
To being an adult, afraid this so called "dark" can
bring cruelty and hate.
But we are aware, that it seeps in without warning
and can consume
watching it brings whispers.
Which brings catastrophe on this Yule night.
What is Dark?
What is to be afraid of?
Dark is a time of night..
When the nocturnal come to play..
Dark is Light
That is simply misunderstood
and for humanity
Cannot be understood
Because it is invisible.
But is it Invincible?
They aren't sure
And yet they tell us
"Do not fear it..."
So we embrace it..
But we still have the smallest sliver of fright that pumps out
and sends shivers down our sides.
and clings to the mind, and heart
Author's Notes: (A Personal life experience caused me to think. What is dark? Why must everyone be afraid?)
