Caesarea Philippi, The Grotto of Pan

BOOK ONE, Canto 2.
The goat-Dionysos Pan from his cave
emerged at Caesarea Philippi,
the grotto Echo, well beloved nymph
worshipped. Into the sunny Golan Heights
the Libyan Osiris blinked, and smiled,
blinded thus by the bright day of May Eve,
nine months after the African storm Set
chased him and Isis with Child underground.
"Long 'tis the way 'tis from Arizona, "
th'ancient voyageur gasped, and sat,
on the ruins of an Herodian temple
exhilerated by his globe-girdling.
Author's Notes: This is the beginning of Book One, which covers the historic facts of the real-life model of the fictional Jesus Christ.
Book Two, out of 5 Books in the poetic section of the 500-page prose Supplement to THE FLAGSTAFF QUARTET (described in the Books Section of Witchvox under my name) , continues the escape of Jesus and Mary Magdalene out of the violent turmoil in Palestine in 40 A.D., to North Africa, Rome, and eventually Gaul.
